Apple Dip (Crockpot Dulce de Leche)

Take one or more cans of condensed sweetened milk (fat free is okay!), remove label and set in crockpot. Fill crockpot with water to fully cover the cans plus some. You want the cans submerged in water for the entire cooking time, may add water if needed. Cook on low for 8-9 hours.

When you open the can you can stir in a teaspoon of vanilla if you would like. The source for this recipe claims you can keep unopened (but 'cooked') cans for several months in the pantry.
